Bruce Springsteen in LA

Last fall, when the biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere was released, I wrote two articles about Bruce Springsteen.

One consisted of my interviews with the director of the film Scott Cooper and Springsteen himself for the Italian magazine Best Movie. Read English version at this link.

The second article for Cultural Daily was about my personal experience with Bruce Springsteen’s songs and his political outspokenness during his Land of Hope and Dreams tour. Read it here.
“The America I love is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.”

For that reason I was not going to write about the same topic again, but after last night’s performance of “the Boss” at the Forum, I felt I have to do it.

Immediately after the murders of Renée Good and Alex Pretti by ICE agents, Bruce wrote the song “Streets of Minneapolis” where he mentions the victims by name.

“King Trump’s private army from the DHS, came to Minneapolis to enforce the law.”
“We’ll take a stand for this land.”
“We’ll remember the names of those who died.”

As reported today in the LA Times, Springsteen said last night in Los Angeles:
“If you’re feeling helpless, hopeless, betrayed, frustrated, angry, I know that I’ve been.”
“This White House is destroying the American idea and our reputation around the world.”
“These are hard times, but we’ll make it through. Americans do the right thing after they’ve tried everything else.”

Variety wrote that the previous night Springsteen said:
“To many, we are no longer looked upon as ‘the land of the free and the home of the brave.’ America is now a reckless, unpredictable, predatory rogue nation.”
“So many of our elected leaders have failed us that this American tragedy can only be stopped by the American people. So join us.”
